FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Common questions about solar, batteries and home energy

Straightforward answers to some of the questions we hear most often from homeowners considering solar, battery storage or EV charging.

The right system depends on your electricity usage, roof space, when you use power and what you want the system to achieve. We look at your household’s actual energy use and future plans before recommending a system rather than relying on a standard package.

A battery can make sense when you have enough solar generation to charge it, use significant electricity outside solar hours, want greater energy independence, or can take advantage of suitable electricity tariffs. The financial result varies from home to home, so we assess the numbers before recommending one.

In many cases, yes. The best approach depends on your existing inverter, solar array, switchboard and how the system is configured. Some homes can add a battery to the existing system, while others may benefit from replacing or reconfiguring the inverter.

Not automatically. Backup power requires compatible equipment and the system must be designed specifically for blackout operation. The amount of the home that can run during an outage also depends on inverter capacity, battery output and the appliances you want backed up.

Yes. A home EV charger can be integrated with solar and battery systems so more of your vehicle charging comes from your own generation. The best charger and configuration depends on your vehicle, electrical supply, solar capacity and how quickly you need to charge.

We look at your electricity usage, roof and switchboard, existing solar equipment where applicable, future energy needs and what you want the system to achieve. We can then recommend suitable options and explain the expected costs, savings and trade-offs.
